For all my viewers, especially the soon or future secondary school graduates, thanks and welcome to my blog!

Business & Social Enterprise (BZSE) in Ngee Ann is one of a kind, special, and new.

Quoting from the BZSE website, BZSE is a "Ground-breaking diploma for a new generation of change-makers - only such course in Singapore.".

So what is a social enterprise?

A social enterprise is defined as a social mission driven organization which trade in goods or services for a social purpose.
Similarly, to me, a social enterprise, is an organization which does business, with a heart, who aims to help the needy and the poor, for a social cause.

The following video is a short film on the field of social entrepreneurship:

Its a great overview of the progress made over the last three decades. It starts with Mohammad Yunus and includes interviews with a number of social entrepreneurs and others in the field, including Sally Osberg of the Skoll Foundation, Bill Drayton of Ashoka, Jacqueline Novogratz of the Acumen Fund, John Elkington of Volans, and author David Bornstein.

For more information on these and other social entreprenuers, visit www.skollfoundation.org

What i felt about social entrepreneurship being in BZSE

Though it may just be a semester that I've been with BZSE, i find myself learning so much. I also learnt that out there, in many parts of the world, there are so much work needed to help people, the poor, the needy, and basically the underprivileged. That has made me even more determined to set up a social enterprise to help these areas of the world, help these people to lead a better life, from better sanitation, better healthcare, better education, better standard of living, to finding jobs for the ex-convicts and getting poor people a place to stay. Basically, I would want to help people, to improve their lives.

Therefore, those students out there, who are like me, aspiring to make a difference in people's

lives, and to make an positive impact for these people, BZSE would definitely be the right choice

for you!

My reflection in BZSE

My journey with BZSE so far can be only described by a word. Fantastic. That's right. Firstly, when i entered BZSE, everything was moving at a very fast pace, and i have learnt so very much. I even got to meet social entrepreneurs, interviewed them, which gave me a further and deeper insight on what being social entrepreneurs are like. The social enterprise I've interview was Beautiful People.

To know more about Beautiful People click here.

From Beautiful People (BP), I've learnt so much, the willingness to help and to extend a helping hand to girls in our society.

I've also learnt much more on what a social enterprise is about and how their social enterprise operates. This is a much more hands on approach on learning of which i found very useful and it encourages us to also work in our own groups and to plan everything ourselves, from arranging timings to meet the social entrepreneurs, to the place to meet. Though there may be hiccups here and there, but it's from this hiccups that we learn and to improve on it.

Projects

We were divided into groups to embark on a big project, where many modules requires several components of this project, where they obtain percentages of marks from it.
  1. Poster
This was the poster i designed for my project where im supposed to make a poster which shows the mission, vision and the message i wish to bring about.

2) A video that showcased Beautiful People as a social enterprise.

3) A business management video showing the business principles.

4) A business report on Beautiful People.
